3rd grade

Kate is in third grade. What has recently become part of life with a third grade daughter is girl drama. For the last few weeks, I pick Kate up from daycare, and she tells me all about the fighting that happens between her friends. From what I can gather, Kate has a group of friends. Two of the girls in the group are very strong-willed and butt heads a lot.
Kate, thankfully, has made it very clear that she wants no part in the fighting. She has avoided the drama, and I am proud of her. Today, though, she said that one of the girls said something mean to her for being friends with the other girl.
Now let me remind you all that Kate is normally very sensitive. She is tender hearted. So I half expected her to tell me in the next breath that her feelings were hurt. Nope! She totally blew it off. She said, "Mom I just ignored her. I don't want to fight with either of them, and so *** and I are trying to play alone now. I don't want to get in trouble."
Maybe her motivation is that she doesn't want to get in trouble with her teacher, but I am glad that she is able to a) avoid the fighting and b) blows off rude comments to try to get her upset.
Who would have thought that this would be happening so early???

I remember you and I fighting like sisters in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade.... 25 years later we're still friends!

Girl drama is not fun, at all. Good for her for staying above it!

Wow. That's all I can say. Girls are nuts.

here's what's funny. She came home today with more drama. A few girls were mad at her for playing with "the enemy."
I am so glad she is totally confiding in me about it all...and she still seems to not care at all. Go Kate!
